The world now farms more seafood than it catches, but still farms by hand.

Underwater farm work is slow and exhausting, labour is costly, and young people are leaving the coast. Meanwhile, expensive machines sit idle at dawn and in the low season.

51%

of the world’s aquatic animal food now comes from aquaculture, more than wild fishing for the first time.

of Indonesian farmers are aged under 40. Only the old people “will keep on working here.”

Sensus Pertanian 2023
01

Underwater farm work is slow and exhausting

Workers wade, dive and haul heavy lines, nets and baskets by hand.

Aqua mode runs along the line by itself and carries the load, so one worker does more.

02

Labour is costly and young people are leaving

Aquaculture companies and co-ops struggle to staff harvests.

Lighter, faster, more modern work, fewer hours per harvest.

03

Output is capped by what people can carry

Every farm is limited by how much a person can haul.

More lines harvested or checked per day from the same farm.

04

Coastal farmers earn very little

Village farmers can’t afford a machine of their own.

Rp 15k-a-day access through the village, plus paid work as reef guides.

05

Underwater fun at sea is rare and expensive

Resort scooter rides today are pool-only at Rp 230k to 330k per 30 min.

A sea-ready, safe fleet with no purchase cost, at Rp 150k a ride.

06

Expensive machines sit idle

Rental gear is unused at dawn and in the low season.

One scooter, two industries, each unit works more hours.

One scooter body with two swappable heads

Swap the Ride Head for the Aqua Head in two minutes and the same machine goes from carrying tourists to carrying harvest. Switch between the Ride Head for tourists and the Aqua Head for farmers, and tap the dots to see each part.

Line-Follow Mode

Clip it onto a line, net or cage and it moves along by itself at walking speed (0.3 m/s) with a 20 kg bag, while the worker keeps harvesting and loading. When the bag is full, it tows it to the boat.

Safe-Ride Guard

Fully caged propeller, motor cut-off below 5 m, a dead-man trigger and an orange buoy flag above every rider. In aqua mode, the farmer holds a float kill-switch.

Hull
Rotomoulded HDPE, 65 cm long, about 9 kg with battery, slightly buoyant, so it floats up if let go.
Motor
Twin 300 W sealed brushless thrusters. Tourist speed 1.2 m/s; farm creep 0.3 m/s.
Propeller
Fully caged in a mesh guard: no fingers, hair or seaweed tangles.
Battery
36 V 10 Ah swap packs (two per scooter): about 60 min of riding or about 2.5 h of farm creep. Swapped in 20 seconds.
Safety
Dead-man trigger, pressure cut-off at 5 m, orange buoy flag on a 6 m line, float kill-switch (farm).
Buoy GPS tag
GPS sits in the floating buoy (GPS doesn’t work underwater). Used for safety and anti-theft only. No data is sold.
Ride Head
Two handles, phone holder and LED light.
Aqua Head
Line clamp with guide rollers (fits 6 to 20 mm rope and net edges), 20 kg mesh bag, 30 m tether reel.

Villages share in the money

BUMDes run sites; farmers become reef guides. Outside operators don’t keep all the profit.

One fleet, two shifts a day

At a village dual-mode site, 10 leased scooters run by BUMDes staff earn at dawn with farmers, then again by day with tourists. Tap a part of the clock for details.

Aqua mode, step by step

  1. 1

    Boat out at 5am

The village (BUMDes) or farm company brings scooters by boat to the farm line. Village farmers pay Rp 15k a day, by QRIS or cash.

  2. 2

    Snap on & clip

The farmer goes down, snaps on the Aqua Head and clips it onto the line, net or cage edge. The tether ties to their boat or a float.

  3. 3

    Press “Line-Follow”

It moves along at 0.3 m/s carrying the bag while the farmer harvests, seeds or checks by hand and keeps loading it.

  4. 4

Bag full? Tow to the boat

At the end of the line, or when the bag is full, the scooter tows it to the boat, or the farmer reels it in on the tether.

  5. 5

    Next line, net or cage

Clip on again. Works on seaweed, mussels, oysters and pearls, lobster and fish cages.

  6. 6

    8am: rinse & swap

Back to the beach for a fresh-water rinse and battery swap, ready for tourists at 9am. In low season, more scooters stay in aqua mode all day.

Safety features on every unit

Tourist safety needs professional maintenance, which is why we never sell tourist units. Your staff are trained and certified by us, and insurance is in every lease.

Market check: resort pool-scooter rides in Bali charge Rp 230,000 to 330,000 for 30 minutes. In Tanjung Benoa a jet ski costs Rp 205,000 to 235,000 for about 5 minutes and snorkelling Rp 170,000 to 190,000. A Rp 150,000 OCEARA ride is cheaper than both.

Who rides

Domestic tourists aged 17 to 35 (students, young workers and content creators) who want a cheap, safe, shareable reef experience with no licence or skill needed.

Who we help

Farm workers and farmer groups on seaweed, shellfish, pearl, lobster and fish-cage farms in Bali, NTB, NTT, Sulawesi and the Riau Islands: less hauling, faster work, no up-front cost.

Who pays us

Private beach resorts, village-run tourism sites and estates, aquaculture companies of every kind, and government programmes.

Impact on coastal communities

OCEARA = Ocean + Era: a new era for the people who work and play in the ocean. Our mission is to make underwater technology affordable for Indonesia by sharing one fleet between tourists and farmers.

Farmers become guides

Farmers earn extra as certified reef guides in their afternoons, leading freedive and reef tours.

Solar-charged

Batteries charge in the rack we supply with every lease. Seaweed farming absorbs carbon and needs no feed or fertiliser.

Reef-respecting

Tourists ride only in roped zones, with no fin-kicking on coral.

Local ownership

Village BUMDes keep farm-mode income locally, farmer groups advise each site, and prices are published.

No data selling

The buoy GPS tag is for safety and anti-theft only. We earn from leases and farm-unit sales.

Clean Mode

A soft brush ring cleans algae and barnacles off nets, ropes and cages as the scooter runs, plus a mesh pocket that picks up plastic and lost fishing gear.

Farm Check camera

A low-cost waterproof camera on the Aqua Head records each line or cage so managers see crop health without diving. The video stays with the farm.

Reef Ranger tours

A small part of each tourist ride funds reef and seagrass restoration run by partner villages.

We are raising Rp 1.2bn for 15% equity

Valuation Rp 8bn, about 2.6× our 2028 forecast profit. Breakeven around month 9 of 2027. With 30% of profit paid as dividends from 2028, an investor receives about Rp 530M by 2029 and still owns 15% of a company forecast to earn Rp 8.6bn a year. All forecasts are our estimates.

3-year forecast est.

Use of the Rp 1.2bn

Cost per scooter falls with volume est.

Designed by OCEARA, built by a partner factory in East Java (Sidoarjo, Surabaya or Pasuruan) with our own moulds, a fixed price per batch and a tank test of every unit. Sealed thrusters, cells and controllers come from specialist suppliers. Factory quotes are still to be confirmed; one-off tooling about Rp 250M.

    Frequently asked questions

Does the scooter harvest by itself?

No. People harvest by hand; the scooter is a self-moving carrier. It runs along the line with the bag so the worker never has to stop and haul. The line guides it, so it needs no complex autonomy, just the tether, rollers and a speed setting. That’s simpler, safer and cheaper than a harvesting robot.

    Why lease instead of buy?

Salt water and tourist safety need professional maintenance, so we keep ownership and service every unit. Leasing also means no big purchase. We sell only aqua units, only in bulk (20+), with a Rp 1.5M yearly service plan.

Will resorts really pay Rp 2.5M per scooter a month?

Resort pool scooters in Bali already charge Rp 230 to 330k for 30 minutes. At Rp 150k a ride, a resort covers the lease with under one ride per scooter per day. In a normal month (2 rides per scooter per day) a resort sells about 3.6× its lease in rides.

Why is aquaculture cheaper than tourism?

Farms use the scooter every day, in calmer and closed-off water, need no tourist safety staff and buy in volume. The lower price makes the return obvious and still pays back our unit cost in about seven months on a lease.

How safe is it for tourists?

Caged propellers, a 5 m depth cut-off, a dead-man trigger, an orange buoy flag with GPS, roped zones, trained partner staff and insurance in every lease. In aqua mode, scooters run only in roped farm zones at walking speed with a float kill-switch held by the farmer.

Could it damage crops or nets?

We use soft guide rollers and an adjustable clamp (fits 6 to 20 mm rope and net edges), and run free 30-day trials on real farms before any sale.

    Who runs the rides?

Your own water-sports staff, trained and certified by us, as resorts already do with jet skis. There’s no customer app: each partner takes ride payments its own way.

What happens in the low season?

Village leases can pause seasonally, and idle units move to aqua mode, which works all year. Farms harvest all year round.

    Do you sell user data?

No. The GPS tag is for safety and anti-theft only. We earn from leases and farm-unit sales.

Where is it made, and what’s the status?

OCEARA designs the scooter and owns the moulds; a contract manufacturer in East Java builds and tests each unit. Only motors, cells and controllers are imported. Specifications on this site are design targets, and the first fleets are planned for 2027, book a demo to see where we are.
